ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
Designing and Planning network communications systems. Providing specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture. Providing specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducting tests of network design. Maintaining technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluating and reporting on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Diagnose hardware and software problems, and replace defective components.
Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations thereof.
Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures in order to protect data, software, and hardware.
Operate master consoles in order to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks and to coordinate network access and usage.
Prepare technical proposals for presentation to customer engineering review boards for adding new technologies to the network.
Communicate technically complex details clearly, both orally and in writing, to ensure understanding and that all requirements are met.
Plan network architecture, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software, and operating system software.
Perform upgrades to the network and review user requests for additions or upgrades to determine impact on network resources.
Perform long-term O&M activities utilizing network analysis tools to troubleshoot and correct complex or simple problems in the network.
Monitor the security posture of the network and report suspected violations to designated authority.
. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 4-7 years experience with the skills and abilities listed:
Network Engineering, MPLS network design, Juniper System engineering and deployment, IPV6, CCNA and/or CCNP Cisco certifications, JNCIE and/or JNCIP Juniper certification, Systems Engineering, Web Technologies, and SharePoint.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required.
Preferred Qualifications -- Candidates with the following desired skills will be given preferential consideration: INMARSAT/BGAN, X, C, Ku, Kband, Sband frequencies, Medium Earth Orbit & Low Earth Orbit Satellite Systems, Systems Architecture, Web Technologies, and COOP Planning.
Training Support must have Military Trainer Cert or CompTia CTT+ Certification
Top Secret with Full Scope Poly clearance required.
This position is contingent upon contract reward.
