The Network Management Systems Team's mission is to select, architect, deploy, and support enterprise network management systems covering the enterprise network management functions of Fault Monitoring and Alerting, Syslog Management, Network Performance & Capacity Monitoring, Configuration Management, IP Address Management, Device Access Management, Active Device Inventory, and System Mapping and to support the network analysts that use the systems to maintain the Chevron network. The purpose of the position is to maintain, improve, and support the Network Management Systems by performing routine application maintenance, coordinating with vendors, and working with analysts and business unit customers to ensure network management applications and systems are available and functioning well.
Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Network Management Systems Analyst located in Houston, Texas through August 2, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Perform routine maintenance procedures on network management applications and systems related to but not limited to:
Backup and Restore tests
Trouble shooting customer issues with applications.
Training customers to use the applications.
Application System Support:
Trouble shoot application system issues.
Work with vendors to resolve system issues.
Upgrade, patch, or improve a system as necessary.
Monitor systems to ensure availability and functionality.
Develop and maintain system documentation.
Support the Network Managment System Team’s projects as a member or project lead.
Perform administrative functions:
Bachelors degree or related experience.
3+ years of network administration experience on a network with > 5000 Cisco devices.
College degree and or certifications preferred such as Cisco, MCSE, or Linux. Will consider experienced candidates without college degree.
Desired Requirements (Not Mandatory)
Cisco IOS, CatOS, NXOS, and PIX experience.
Packet capture tool experience
EMC Smarts NCM (Voyence)
Regular Expression scripting
Server infrastructure administration – install, administer, and manage custom Linux/Unix servers.
Server infrastructure administration – install, administer, and manage custom Windows servers.
Medium sized Project Management experience ( > 200 man hours).
Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters. *LI-DD1
