Network Operation Specialist opportunity with a solid & profitable company!
We are looking for a Network Operation Specialist to join our team in Boxborough, MA.
The eSignal business unit (eSignal) is the retail arm of Interactive Data Corporation. Building on a 20-year legacy of delivering time-sensitive financial information, eSignal provides global, real-time market data and decision support tools to active investors worldwide. Defining the focus and direction for eSignal's development of its products and services, eSignal's goal is to become the leading one-stop service provider to active and professional traders.
The Network Operation Specialist will assist in providing 24 hour continuous support for eSignal's critical data network to ensure uninterrupted flow of all eSignal financial information, while maintaining the highest degree of data accuracy by constantly monitoring, checking, analyzing and enhancing the delivery.
Maintain detailed time-based technical checklists and incident log, providing input to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
Support the Technical Service department by answering questions and correcting problems.
Perform backup and recovery functions Windows, and Linux-based operating systems as well as eSignal proprietary software applications.
Monitor Internet, corporate WAN/LAN networks and co-locations, responding to any issues with appropriate trouble-shooting action, including establishing backup connectivity and/or contacting Engineering personnel for assistance.
Open and manage trouble ticket with various service vendors: Colo providers, MCI, HP, Cisco, etc. Intelligently articulate the status/condition of the troubled device and make generat recommendations for remediation.
Cabling and wiring of various communications equipment: Routers, switches, telco equipment, etc
Install network hardware and server hardware as requested by Network Engineering
Maintain a clean and organized team work environment
Document remote installations and detailed vendor contact information.
Cell phone access is required at all times. Must be flexible to work a shift at anytime throughout the day including holidays.
NOTE: This is a 3rd shift position (scheduled start time 10pm; Sunday thru Thursday)
Associates degree or 3-4 years equivalent work experience
Ability to troubleshoot and assemble PC and server hardware.
Basic knowledge of worldwide financial markets and terms.
Strong analytical skills.
Working knowledge of general telephony and hardware, HP Openview, TCP/IP protocol, HTML, Frame Relay, IP Multicasting and T1-3 communications are highly desired.
