Ensures Consolidated?s customer service providing network, systems and processes are secure and in compliance with internal and external governing authorities, policies and mandates, (i.e., SOX, HIPPA, etc.).

Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with the Consolidated security policy and procedures and applicable law.

Architects and implements required security measures to ensure integrity of Consolidated hardware, software, network and data assets.

Develops and maintains new security policies, procedures, and/or guidelines that will allow greater standardization and more effective management of information security measures.

Participates in the design of data networks and network elements, specification of network design parameters and configuration criteria, and installation, configuration and maintenance of network components, (e.g., servers, routers, hubs, switches).

Oversees and/or participates in the execution of compliance related processes, standards and other activities, (e.g., SOX testing and auditing).

Coordinates internal compliance review and monitoring activities for Network Operations, including periodic reviews of departments within the Network Operations functional unit and collaborate with Internal Audit.

Identifies and isolates Security related problems, and takes appropriate actions.

Specify, install, configure and use hardware and software diagnostic tools required to determine the adequacy and/or operational capabilities of network security processes.

Maintain detailed security-related records.

Maintain current knowledge of best practices and industry standards for security compliance and monitoring programs.

Assist in planning and monitoring networks, systems and controlled areas.

Contacts customers with infected computers or networks, or any customer that is compromising the Consolidated network.

Works with other teams and departments, directing security tasks.

Conducts vulnerability assessments and audits of network devices.

Research and monitor websites for current security news and issues.

Assists in responding to outside law enforcement (FBI), government investigations, or queries relating to information security.

Provide in-depth technical advice for investigations of information security incidents including internal and external attacks, system outages, and personnel issues.

Analyze and recommend information security products and services for adoption or testing by Consolidated.

Develop configuration standards for: firewalls, wireless, VPNs, servers, applications, databases, and other infrastructure components that are assets of Network Operations.

Represent Consolidated with vendors and customers as technical contact for issues related to the corporate network security. Research technical specifications, correspond with vendors, arrange for demonstrations, and evaluate network components and software to determine value in meeting corporate security needs.

Represent department on corporate network security related issues and as an expert resource for technical committees within the functional department.

Qualifications

Technical training or knowledge: Current security and audit certifications (CISSP, CISA) desired. Working knowledge of Unix/Linux server security systems and Microsoft Windows operating systems. Knowledge and understanding of network administration and surveillance/error detection principles and requirements, use of network management software. Knowledge and understanding of OSI protocol stack, LAN/WAN protocols, router operating systems and filters network/system security principles and requirements, and network firewall installation, configuration and operations. Knowledge and understanding of router, hub, switch and terminal server operations, installation procedures, and configuration requirements (e.g. Cisco). Must have applicable experience in intrusion detection and security support.

Professional training or knowledge: Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills and a broad range of project planning/management skills.

Education and work experience: Possesses a BS in Computer Science, or related field, plus three years data network security experience, or possesses an equivalent six-year combination of technical training and work experience in network design, installation, operation and security.

License required: Valid driver's license.

Physical Demands: Physical demands are consistent with the installation and maintenance of computer and network equipment and facilities. Most of the day is spent sitting at a desk, working with computers, printers, files, and standard office equipment. Movement is required in the use of office equipment, supply locations, files, and other work locations and meeting rooms. Moderate physical activity is required in the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment.
