To operate and maintain the GWU Security Network and implement security solutions, and standards for administrative and academic systems and networks.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus five (5) years of relevant experience. Degree requirements may be substituted for an equivalent combination of education, experience and training.

Desired Qualifications:
A master’s degree in MIS , Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field.

Professional experience in operation and installation of security systems along with a minimum of two years of UNIX , Novell, and ORACLE system administration experience.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Experience within a university environment preferred.

Job Duties

Performs web application assessments with an understanding of application research, default content discovery, content/directory enumeration, SWF / JAR analysis, logic flaws, session handling, code injection ( XSS /SQLi), parameter fuzzing, and authentication/authorization bypass. Uses tools such as Burp/Paros, BeEF, NTO Spider, Metasploit, Wireshark, Nmap.

Documents testing results and creates clear, structured deliverables. Communicates technical findings and remediations to internal groups in a way that relates to all levels of technical competence.

Performs testing and research to identify previously undocumented vulnerabilities. Leads actively in the information security community and stays current on new vulnerability research, trends, and tools.

Performs technical security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability assessments on servers, network devices and appliances prior to their deployment into the GW environment.

Reviews standard system builds and application functions to make recommendations to enhance security.

Provides technical input to continuously improve university security posture.

Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
