Technician is responsible for technical and skilled work installing, maintaining telecom equipment, voice, data communications systems. Work includes performing complex activities for routine and unscheduled maintenance, reading and interpreting circuit diagrams and schematics. Tech is expected to adhere to instructions, codes and standards. Tech has some latitude in accomplishing assignments which are monitored by the supervisor for quality and quantity of task completed.

Required Qualifications
Six months experience with PBX installation, premise distribution installations of voice and data terminal equipment (proprietary, 2500, PC, and LAN) is required.

Preferred Qualifications
Two year's experience with analog digital voice and data equipment installation, diagnosis, repair and modification. Limited independent work experience in installation and service.

Duty (1) Description
Prepare sites; unpack, set up and adjust hardware and equipment Utilizes specialized and complex electronic instruments and equipment, installs, diagnoses problems, repairs and services analog and digital voice, data communications equipment and related items. Technician must use independent judgment as to installation, minimal disruption of service, methods of problem resolution and efficient cost effective use of equipment, professional conduct must be maintained when in contact with users, staff and patients.

Configure or adjust hardware or system software for desired features and performance; test, diagnose & repair as needed.

Duty (3) Description
Assist users resolve their problem or perform needed action at the time of contact, whenever possible; otherwise, direct action by appropriate IT support personnel to resolve problems or train users. Receives, confers and responds to service calls covering equipment functions/ malfunctions, including on-call time during off duty hours. Priorities determined as required. Should respond to service calls in the minimum of time. Assist users, if requested, regarding technical operation of equipment. Track user queries, responses and problem resolutions; report incidents which are not cleared within target response times; identify or report trends in user queries, requests and problem reports.

Monitor or document problem resolution; inform reporting users what action is being taken and when the problem is resolved; inform all users when an error condition exists which will impact normal system use. Attend assigned technical sessions and update technical knowledge through study of current installation and service maintenance manuals. Good accuracy and craftsmanship to be performed per instructions from installation, service and maintenance manuals.
