Job Title : Network Specialist

Duration : 12-18 Months contract

Under direct supervision, the Network Specialist will be responsible for the procurement, shipping / receiving, tracking, imaging and software installation on information technology assets and assist in compiling inventory lists. They will assist with routine trouble resolution of computing and/or communications problems with attention to detail and a customer service mentality.
Maintains standards for safety and for the proper use of equipment and tools
Images / re-images computer equipment utilizing Microsoft SCCM
Determines shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping schedules
Oversees incoming / outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness and condition of shipments
Transfers data from one medium/format to another and assists with data storage operations
Performs routine backup and recovery tasks. Transports and/or transmits designated data in a multitude of formats
Maintains an organized and efficient work area, including maintenance of supplies and equipment
Maintains inventory levels and tracks assets with deployment database
Provides first level support to troubleshoot and resolve Information Technology issues
Gathers and logs incoming support request, resolution, status and follow-up information into support tracking system
Strong organizational skills
Experience deploying computer images with SCCM, Ghost or Altiris
Must be able to coordinate multiple activities simultaneously under timely deadlines
Must be able to sit for long periods at a desk and computer, as well as to move from office to dock and other environments when necessary.
Basic working knowledge of Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2010 suite of products
Network access (User Accounts, Email, Internet and LAN)
Remote Access clients (Virtual Private Network-VPN)
Mobile communication devices (Blackberry)
Basic understanding of Local Area Networking (LAN) and TCP/IP concepts, specifically within a Microsoft Networking infrastructure.
Understand basic Information Technology security concepts. (Antivirus, Spam blockers, etc.)
Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2003/2007 suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of basic troubleshooting of laptops, desktops and peripherals.
Ability to apply critical thinking and a methodical approach to problem identification and resolution.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in written form to supervisors, peers and end users.
Possess the ability to work independently, manage and resolve multiple tasks simultaneously.
Work in an effective, consistent manner maintaining quality assurance and compliance with established directives, policy and best practices.
Understand the concept of and actively participate in a team environment.
Possess ability to work collectively with Team supervisors and peers on various projects
Must be able to lift, stack and organize 30 pound boxes
Work schedule will generally be Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. However, the successful candidate must be available for flexible work schedule; including weekend work and regional travel.
While not required for this position, it is desirable that the candidate possess or be in the process of attaining a 4 year degree relating to Computer Science or Information Systems from an accredited University or College.
Possession or in the process of attaining an A+, NET+, Microsoft or Cisco or other IT related certification is desirable.
Previous experience working in an IT environment of between one and two years desired.
