This role performs the day to day operation and administration duties to ensure all switching, routing, firewall and security equipment and services are operating efficiently and effectively.
Support customer service level objectives by planning, installing, maintaining and tuning data communications system software components.
Provide research, recommendations and oversee implementation of new projects.
Participate in the selection, installation and maintenance of all hardware, system software and network related components crossing many platforms and operating systems.
Monitor network connections to ensure optimal network performance.
Identify steps necessary to fine-tune network.
Monitor the attainment of service level objectives by capturing and reporting network availability and performance information and performance information.
Ensure efficient network application implementation by creating simulation and modeling techniques.
Develop and implement standards and procedures to ensure consistency.
Provide training and assistance to staff regarding the generation and maintenance of all data communication software and equipment.
Diagnose and resolve network related problems
Ensure accurate problem resolution records by updating and/or closing problem incident records.
Develop network procedures and technical education for all data processing personnel related to the operation of the data communications network.
Perform upgrades of network systems to include routers, switches, firewalls, CSUs/DSUs and WAN devices.
Plan, design and deploy new LAN network infrastructure for managed services environment
Plan, design and deploy new WAN connectivity between managed services facility and customer sites
**On-call rotation schedule and minimal travel is required. **
7+ years of experience in the network engineering field
4 -5 years direct VoIP technical experience both hands-on and in a senior technical leadership / technical advisory role designing, architecting and providing in-depth technical support of VoIP systems and technologies (Call Manager 5.1 or above, Cisco Unity, IPCC, IVR).
Experience with enterprise-class networking infrastructure in highly available and scalable environments
Ability to design, plan, configure and support all networking gear (switches, routers, firewalls, load balancers, VPN concentrators)
Knowledge and understanding of real-time and trend monitoring for network infrastructure
Knowledge and understanding of VPN configurations and other WAN technology deployments
Ability to interact with business and technical teams to understand requirements
Self motivated individual who can work independently and as a team player
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, demanding and multi-tasking environment
Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
Good written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
