The Network Support Specialist is responsible for administering, configuring, and maintaining the Companys systems and network infrastructure. This position reports to the Vice President/Chief Information Officer and serves on various network related projects and initiatives. Ensuring availability of computer systems including hardware and software necessary to perform business operations in an effective and efficient manner Monitoring the technological industry to ensure the Company is using the most efficient hardware and software available, evaluating costs and recommending updates or changes Managing and maintaining security of network (email, website, domain) against hackers/intruders Ensuring system and data availability in case of hardware failure or disasterQualifications Four-year degree in computer science or related area of study, or a minimum of three years experience in network administration, hardware, and software support Working knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory Microsoft Exchange 2007 Networking (VPN, Routing, Switching, Firewalls, Sub-netting, NATing) VMware Citrix DNS/DHCP Group Policy Design/Implementation SQL Server Corporate Anti-Virus Backup/Restore Concepts Hardware Troubleshooting (Desktops/Servers) Ability to read, analyze, and interpret information Ability to respond to routine inquires from associates and vendors Ability to accurately perform complex mathematical functions as necessary to make projections, identify and analyze problems Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks accurately and efficiently Intermediate level proficiency in word processing, spread sheeting, and presentation skills. Ability to prepare business correspondence and reports
Maintaining, repairing, updating, and/or replacing all Company network hardware and software Coordinating purchase of computer hardware and computer-related equipment including research of features, functions, quality, product support, price, and user training of all computer and computer-related equipment Performing systems maintenance including installing new software, updating operating system software, managing user access, and monitoring disk utilization Assuring availability of working computer hardware through installation, maintenance, support, monitoring, and troubleshooting computer hardware problems Monitoring and directing the activities of the Network Support Team Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computers/network Recommending and/or performing repairs or replacement to resolve failures Performing routine audits of computers/network Documenting network infrastructure, basic processes and procedures, and expense management Performing and monitoring system backups for all servers Establishing, maintaining and testing disaster recovery procedures Maintaining Company voicemail and telephone system Additional duties as assigned Planning, designing, implementing and supporting new systems and system upgrades
