The Network Support Specialist provides primary technical support for the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all network hardware, software and communication links for the institution including wireless networks. In addition, this role will provide complete network support from Design, to Implementation, to Configuration, Cutover, Testing and Troubleshooting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Establish networking environment by designing system configuration; directing system installation; defining, documenting, and enforcing system standards.

Design network required to support application moves including provisioning IP addressing, DHCP & DNS changes, VLANs, and Routing requirements.
·
Implement configuration changes on switches and routers.
·
Provide technical support and advanced troubleshooting.
·
Maximize network performance by monitoring performance; troubleshooting network problems and outages; scheduling upgrades; collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
·
Support, monitor and administer the operation of network hardware and software (e.g., network management systems, operating systems, middleware, and server hardware/software).
·
Identifies and resolves server problems that are escalated from the support team utilizing structured trouble shooting methods, techniques, and tools.
·
Configure, manage and support campus wireless network configuration.
·
Perform routine tasks as they concern the overall operation of the helpdesk and support of employees.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :
·


Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
·
4+ yrs System Administration experience in a Linux and/or Windows environment
·
Experience and strong knowledge of telecommunications concept development, deployment, and support
·
Experience with IP telephony architecture including firewalls, IDS, VPNs, etc.
·
Experience and knowledge of network design including switching, routing, QOS and firewalls
·
Experience integrating and supporting Apple products and supporting mobile devices in a network environment
·
Ability to troubleshoot applications and hardware in a methodical and rational manner
·
Strong communication skills – oral and written
