The Network Systems Administrator is responsible for all aspects of IT Data Center and Hosting Network Operations and related systems including effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure in a distributed 24/7 mission critical network and systems environment. In addition, this individual will be responsible for securing OPSWAT's distributed Data Center and Hosting infrastructure from intrusions and security faults. This individual also will participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the IT infrastructure. The Network Systems Administrator will report to the VP, IT and ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, security and related procedures adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
Ensuring that the network and systems infrastructure is up and running
Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all network hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backup
Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirement
Applying operating/appliance system updates, patches, and configuration changes
Management of both hardware, software and DNS load balancers (physical, cloud/virtual)
Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
Experience with open source monitoring tools (Zenoss, Scrutinizer, Nagios, etc.)
Analyzing computer system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems
Maintain data center environmental and monitoring equipment
Initiate and document systems errors and incidents and perform adequate postmortem investigations
Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale

Security:
Management of multiple firewalls in multiple sites: onsite, colocation, cloud hosting
Management of internal layer 3+ switched multi-vLAN environment
Configuration, management and analysis of Intrusion Prevention or Detection Systems
SSL, Certificates, Bitlocker, SSH keys, file, hosting and other encryption administration and management
Adding, removing or updating user account information, resetting passwords of network devices, cloud assets and servers
Remote access security including SSL VPN, site-to-site VPN tunnels including administration of SSL VPN posture assessment and secure desktop configurations.
Analysis of network logs, web site statistics (access, error logs) including analysis with AWStat
Work with management on developing and implementing IT strategies that align with business goal

Technical Documentation:
Enhance and document IT department policy and procedures
Develop and implement a systems infrastructure and technology refresh plan
Develop, maintain and enforce a current network systems and information security policy and procedure
Provide hands-on desktop and systems support including answering technical queries

Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity:
Performing routine audits of systems and software and performing daily backup
Hands on experience setting up, configuring and providing ongoing administration to firewalls
Must have a high level of security knowledge
Ability to design scalable systems as well as redesign or tweak those systems that are already built to scale better
Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends with little advanced notice
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
Position Requirements
CCNA certified (CCNP or higher preferred) or equivalent hand's on work experience
3+ years hand's on Cisco network administration (ASA, site-to-site VPN, Catalyst switches)
2+ years' hands on experience with IT administration of Linux distros (CentOS, Ubentu, etc)
Experience managing LAMP stack
Knowledge of web servers (Apache, Tomcat)
Experience with database administration (MS SQL, MySQL, MongoDB preferred)
Thorough understanding of TCP/IP, Switching, Routing, LAN/WAN/vLAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN
Experience managing hypervisor technologies such as VMWare, ESX, Xen or Hyper-V
Experience using cloud-based solutions: Amazon Web Services (AWS: EC2, S3, RDS) Rackspace
Experience managing SAN/NAS technologies: EMC, NetApp, QNAP
Availability for 24/7 on-call duty
Hands on experience managing Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity using backup tools such as Symantec Backup Exec, disk-to-disk backups, replication, etc

Preferred:
CCNP preferred
CISSP preferred
At least 4+ years of experience in Network Systems administration
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or information systems, or equivalent work experience
Experience working in a distributed Data Center environment (onsite, colocation, cloud hosting, virtualization)
Exceptional sense of accountability and solid organizational skills
Team player who is willing to take direction as well as work on issues and projects on their own
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
Hands on experience diagnosing and resolving complex information technology issues
Knowledge and experience with the administration of Microsoft SharePoint
Enjoy self-supervision and working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
Knowledge of web servers and database servers
Knowledge of at least one scripting languages (Bash, PERL, Batch)
Knowledge of High Availability & replication across multiple OS preferred (including software and hardware load-balancers)
Ability to work in San Francisco and a car to travel to other office locations on rare occasions
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
