THE POSITION WILL PROVIDE JOURNEY LEVEL SKILLS IN THE TELECOMMUNICATION FIELD AND WILL INSTALL, MAINTAIN, AND REPAIR A WIDE VARIETY OF PRIVATE BRANCH EXCHANGE (PBX), ELECTRONIC KEY, VOICEMAIL, PAGING, INMATE PHONE SYSTEMS AND ASSOCIATED HARDWARE. THE POSITION WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING AND MAINTAINING VOICE/DATA CABLING SYSTEMS WITHIN STATE PRISON FACILITIES AND ADMINISTRATIVE BUILDINGS. THIS POSITION ALSO MANAGES A TELECOMMUNICATIONS WAREHOUSE OF REPAIR PARTS AND PROJECT MATERIALS. THIS POSITION PROVIDES TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN THE EASTERN REGION.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
THIS POSITION REQUIRES THE ABILITY TO TROUBLESHOOT AND MAKE REPAIRS ON A WIDE VARIETY OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS DEVICES AND THE ABILITY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND TECHNICAL REFERENCE MANUALS, BLUEPRINTS AND SCHEMATICS. THE POSITION REQUIRES A WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRONICS THEORY; FUNDAMENTALS OF PHYSICS AND MATHEMATICS AS APPLIED TO ELECTRONICS & PHONE SYSTEMS. APPLICANT SHOULD HAVE EXPERIENCE IN THE INSTALLATION, MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF VOICE TELECOMMUNICATION EQUIPMENT; KNOWLEDGE OF OR EXPERIENCE WITH INSTALLATION OF FIBER OPTICS, DIRECT BURIED CABLES AND CATEGORY 5E STATION CABLES AND THE ABILITY TO CONSULT WITH USERS TO IDENTIFY PROBLEMS WITH SUPPORTED SYSTEMS AND TRANSLATE RECOMMENDATIONS INTO AN UNDERSTANDABLE FORMAT. THE POSITION REQUIRES A WORKING KNOWLEDGE WITH PROJECT MANAGEMENT AS A TEAM LEADER PROVIDING SOLUTIONS FOR THEIR SUPPORTED SYSTEMS.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Associate's degree in electronics, networking, or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
