Background: IAP World Services, Inc. has been awarded a contract to support the NOAA Office of International Affairs. IAP World Services will be the on-site technical services contractor and support NOAA by hiring and managing qualified individuals to support long and near-term research projects.
Work Description:
The NOAA National Marine Fisheries Service, Office of International Affairs (F/IA) provides leadership and works collaboratively with domestic and international partners to provide sound management and caretaking of the world’s living marine resources to ensure healthy marine ecosystems. The F/IA mission objectives include implementation of the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (MSA) in compliance with other federal laws to prevent, deter, and control Illegal, Unregulated, or Unreported (IUU) fishing, including strengthening shark conservation. We anticipate that all positions will work in NOAA facilities in Silver Springs, MD.
IAP is recruiting qualified individuals for the following work
Senior level support for drafting the MSRA Report to Congress, covering in part,
o Destructive fishing practices and vulnerable marine ecosystems
o Plans to combat illegal fishing
o Monitoring, control and surveillance
Provide the required technical, ICCAT, Kobe Process and Program Management support services to the Director of the NMFS Office of International Affairs
Support for preparing Environmental Assessments
o IUU Fishing and bycatch of Protected Living Marine Resources
o Gap identification of conservation and management efforts
o Develop training to build international management practices
Support for Communications services
Qualifications: Undergraduate and graduate degrees in fisheries or a related field. Familiarity with fisheries laws and regulations and experience with international partners is a plus. Experience manipulating and analyzing complex data sets and producing professional quality written products. Experience conducting statistical analysis, and creating professional presentations is desirable.
