Under general department supervision, and the following established policies, procedures and regulations performs/assists various technical procedures, maintenance or exams. Occasionally may be required to take charge/supervisory responsibilities.

Experience, Education and Training Minimum: Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) required. Knowledge of Nuclear medicine principles and procedures as well as operation and maintenance of nuclear imaging equipment as normally acquired through completion of two years post high school training in an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology. Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with patient/families, nursing personnel and physicians. Approximately three to twelve months job experience necessary in order to become proficient in producing quality films and gain familiarity with department policies, procedures and hospital environment. Analytical skills necessary to determine best method of providing required nuclear studies used on the individual case and basic technical principles, ensuring clear undistorted images. Knowledge and proficiency in venipuncture for injecting radioisotopes.
