Our BHS unit provides crisis care for adults 18 and older through the continuum of life who are in crisis with a mental illness and/or require medical detox from alcohol. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the field of Mental Health and be familiar with the DSM IV-TR, and the Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code, will be able to work in a fast paced environment and have the ability to apply their nursing skills with adults who are often not aware of how their behaviors are impacting their illness. We also interact with the families of our patients and provide mental health education to the patient and family to aid in the process of healing as well as reinforce compliance with medications after discharge. Suicidal thoughts and actions often brings patients to our unit, along with illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, severe anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder and major life stressors affecting the person’s ability to function in life. We use a team approach so you will be working with an integrative team of psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed clinical professional counselors, recreational therapist and other medical professionals.
Requires a certified Nurse Assistant. Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Completion of an approved nursing assistant certification class, or equivalent experience.
Job purpose: Carries out delegated nonprofessional nursing activities and provides general supportive care to patients under the supervision of a registered nurse to provide safe effective patient care.
