Under the supervision of the Program Manager, participates as a team member or team coordinator in inspections, certification surveys, and investigations in Long Term Care facilities to determine compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and rules.
Completes inspection/survey reports listing deficiencies/violations and prepares written reports supporting the actions and remedies recommended.
Utilizes professional expertise and specializes in one of the following disciplines: Nursing

Essential Job Functions:
  • Maintains a regular and predictable work schedule.
Conducts licensure inspections, certification surveys, and investigations using applicable protocols, state and federal regulations and appropriate policies and procedures. 55%
Completes inspection/survey reports listing deficiencies and prepares written reports supporting the actions and remedies recommended. 15%
When acting as team coordinator, assumes responsibility for coordinating all aspects of the survey/inspection/investigation to ensure protocols, policies, and procedures are followed. 10%
Assists in quality assurance reviews, presentations of in-service programs, orientation training, and seminars. 5%
Conducts exit conferences regarding survey findings with facility management. 5%
Responds to request for information from team members, facility staff, and the public. 5%
Provides testimony at formal hearing, informal reviews and court actions 5%

Knowledge Skills Abilities:
Knowledge of nursing techniques and procedures; of health care laws and regulations; of medical diagnoses and procedures; of accepted medical treatment programs; and of community health and nursing care principles, practices, and procedures.
Ability to assess patient care, to prepare and maintain records, to explain public health law, to recognize patterns of medically necessary treatment, and/or supervise the work of others.

Registration or Licensure Requirements:
Must be registered as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas or a state that recognizes reciprocity through the Nurse Licensure Compact.

Initial Selection Criteria:
Experience as a practicing registered nurse in Texas.
Experience providing guidance, policy clarifications, and information to others.
Experience training.
Experience developing and implementing quality assurance instruments.
