Essential Job Functions
• Must be available to work on-call and evenings/weekends as needed.
• Responsible for the direction of registered nurses and licensed practical nurses.
• Works closely with staff and physicians on nursing issues, implementation of programming and regulatory compliance.
• Develops and maintains a positive consulting relationship with the Director of Nursing when addressing clinical nursing issues on the Acute units.
• Participates in performance improvement (PI) activities within the department and maintains nursing standards that meet regulatory compliance.
• Works with the Acute Program Manager to ensure the program and schedule are implemented as designed.
• Holds regular staff meetings for registered nurses and licensed practical nurses.
• Ensures that all required paperwork, forms, and medications are prepared and completed for therapeutic trial visits (passes) taken by patients.
• Continuously supervises RNs and LPNS to ensure high quality nursing care.
• Schedules RNs and LPNS to ensure proper coverage of units. Handles call –outs and requests for time off, ensuring proper coverage of units.

• Knowledgeable of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social and behavioral disorders and be able to perform crisis intervention.
• Creative problem solving, critical thinking, strategic planning, team development and leadership are critical to successful performance of duties and delivery of safe quality care.
• Associate Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
• Current NC State Registered Nurse licensure.
• Current CPR, First Aid and CPI certification.
• A minimum of five (5) years experience in a behavioral health care setting, management experience preferred.
