The Nurse Manager has 24-hour responsibility for a nursing unit which includes accountability for the quality of patient care, the performance of the nursing staff, the development and management of the budget, and the orientation, education, and development of the staff. Further, contributes to nursing and the Medical Center through support of philosophy, objectives, and education efforts.
Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. BS degree required. Exception on approval of Chief Nursing Officer.
Required: Three to four years clinical experience required. Evidence of leadership abilities required.
Position Requirement(s): License/Certification/Registration
Required: Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee. Basic Life Support Certificate.
Preferred: Certification in area of specialty preferred.
Department Position Summary:
The employee must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on North Wing Seven, which is an internal medicine, cerebrovascular, and diabetes floor. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit's policies and procedures.
The individual must possess the ability to assess needs and work flow of a nursing unit and intervene to ensure appropriate standards of care are met.
