The Nurse manager advocates for and allocates available resources to promote efficient, effective, safe, and compassionate nursing care based on current standards of practice. They promote shared decision-making and professional autonomy by providing input-their own and that of their staff-into organization level decisions, and by keeping staff informed of executive level activities and vice versa. The nurse manager coordinates activities between defined areas, and provides clinical and administrative leadership and expertise. They facilitate an atmosphere of interactive management and the development of collegial relationships among nursing personnel and others. They serve as a link between nursing personnel and other healthcare disciplines throughout the organization and within the healthcare community. Nurse managers have a major responsibility for the implementation of the vision, mission, philosophy, core values, evidence-based practice and professional standards within their defined area(s) of responsibility. In collaboration with nursing personnel and other disciplines assesses the impact of, and plans strategies to address such issues as:
· Ethnic, culture and diversity changes in the population
· Political and social influences
· Technical and economic issues
· The aging of society and demographic trends
· Ethical issues related to healthcare
Education: Bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing or health related field, Master’s degree with a focus in nursing or related field preferred.
Experience: 5 years of clinical and management experience
Licensure/Certification/Registration Requirements: 1. Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 2. Certification in clinical practice area and/or Certification in Nursing administration preferred. 3. Membership in Professional Organization encouraged
