SUMMARY: This position is responsible for implementing Occupational Health Nursing program policies and procedures and Team Member Occupational Health services for the complex; supervising nursing staff and evaluating nursing care provided to Team Members and ensuring adequate staffing is provided on each shift; monitoring all nursing functions to ensure nursing staff adheres to correct nursing procedures; conducting annual nurse performance evaluations; and ensuring annual renewal and obtain physician signature for Clinical Condition Guidelines and Standing Medication Orders. Other responsibilities include attending complex management production meetings to provide occupational health related updates, injury/illness trend reports and workers compensation updates; interviewing and hiring qualified nursing staff; conducting new nurse orientation and other required Occupational Health training; conducting monthly in-service training for nurses, and managing workers' compensation case management program for the complex and facility. Duties also include managing ergonomic health management program for the complex and facility; ensuring records and reporting systems comply with OSHA, State, company and legal requirements; planning and maintaining nurse department budget; and participating in complex and facility safety and ergonomic programs. This position is also responsible for developing and coordinating health education programs for Team Members; participating in continual professional development and research activities for the improvement of occupational health services; completing two continuing education programs per year relative to occupational health nursing; and any other duties as the need arises.
Education: Completion of a registered nursing program, current license to practice as a registered nurse in state of employment and current CPR/First Aid instructor certification. Experience: 3 plus years experience in Occupational Health Nursing is required. Certification as Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) and management/supervisory skills is preferred. Computer Skills: Basic computer skills in generating simple letters, spreadsheets, using Tyson computer system for charting, job requires an understanding of the system features and functionality and how to use these features. Travel: 1 plus trips per year Supervisory Skills: Responsible for managing shift nursing personnel at a complex and clerical staff. Special Skills: Independent nursing judgment and ability to demonstrate broad knowledge of general nursing required. Must possess management, communication and problem solving skills as well as leadership qualities. POSITION REPORTS TO: Complex Manager
