Nurse Practitioner. Provides reproductive and preventative health services to men, women and children. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8AM to 5PM. No weekend or evening call.

General Statement of Duties: Functions in an expanded capacity as nurse practitioner. Performs delegated management and liaison functions.
Supervision Received: Receives professional and administrative guidance from the Director of the Health Department. Under the direct supervision of the Nurse Practitioner Supervisor.
Supervision Exercised: Accepts delegated responsibility for the division as assigned.

Knowledge/Ability: Assumes specific areas of responsibilities, such as a Nurse Practitioner. Exhibits knowledge of basic nursing techniques. Has expanded knowledge of, and the ability to use, community resources. Effective in planning, organizing, and utilizing teaching principles and work with individuals, families, and community groups.
Minimum of a Master's degree in nursing from an accredited school. National Certification as Nurse Practitioner (Family preferred).
One year experience preferred at the advanced degree level. Experience preferred in Public Health.
Necessary Special Requirements:
Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado and certification in the advanced degree. A valid State of Colorado driver's license and auto insurance as required by state law. Prescriptive Authority as NP preferred. Bilingual in Spanish preferred, but not required.
Assumes responsibility for maintaining current nursing license. Performs clinic duties related to specific area of expertise. Follows written protocols with supervision by clinic physicians when necessary. Maintains Articulated Plan to practice as NP in Colorado. Provides staff development through in-service educational programs, individual guidance, and other methods. Works with Director of Nursing, nursing division staff and community groups in evaluating the health needs of the community and in the development and expansion of programs.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of community health nursing theory and practice. Also demonstrates ability to teach effectively, communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, community groups, and other agencies. Demonstrates mature judgment in the decision making process.
Other Necessary Requirements:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
