Nurse Scholar Intern will be working under the direct supervision of VNSNY Registered Nurse(s) &/or Specialist(s). The Student Nurse Intern will be responsible for participating in one or more of the following areas within a specific program: Service Delivery, Health Education, Operations and other Learning Experiences. The Student Nurse Intern may assist in: 1) the identification, assessment and delivery of patient care 2) the creation of effective teaching materials and beneficial health promotion activities for patients consistent with Agency philosophy, policy, objectives and Standards of Nursing Practice 3) the review of documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulation 4) the coordination of day-to-day activities 5) entering, collecting, researching, compiling and/or verifying data and developing, running and/or monitoring related reports 6) identifying problems and resolving/escalating issues as necessary.
Applicants should possess the following academic and personal qualifications: Current junior year student enrolled in an accredited BSN program. Cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above. BSN degree to be received between December 2013 and May 2014. Strong interest in home health care and community health nursing as career. Commitment to work within the time frame of this paid summer internship (June 17th to August 9th, 2013).Skills: Proficiency with personal computer required. Intermediate level Word and Excel proficiency required. Effective oral/written communication and presentation skills required.
