Nursing Administrative ChairDakota Wesleyan University, a private liberal arts university located in Mitchell, South Dakota and affiliated with the United Methodist church, invites applicants for a Nursing Administrative Chair in the Arlene Gates Department of Nursing. The individual will be responsible for setting the vision and directing all aspects of this well established nursing program. This will involve administrative oversight of the staff and faculty, responsive and cooperative work with relevant accreditation agencies, and collaboration with faculty to maintain academic standards and the support structures that enable students to succeed. Specifically, the Administrative Chair will: Direct the assessment, revision, and development of curriculum while enhancing the integration of simulation throughout the program.

Regularly evaluate and update policies related to admission, advancement, and graduation that enhance student success for both traditional students and adult learners. Direct the evaluation of student learning, setting learning objectives and means of assessment particular to nursing education. Oversee the orientation, assessment, and development of nurse educators, adjuncts, clinical associates, and other contributors to the success of the nursing education program. Work collaboratively with other nursing programs, agencies, and health providers to ensure equitable access to practice sites.

Provide faculty, student, agency, and health providers the opportunity to provide input in decisions about the development of the nursing education program. Ensure the nursing program is focused on its values of learning, leadership, faith and service. Ensure compliance with nursing education accreditation body and regulatory agency requirements including annual program reports, website and published materials, periodic program self-study efforts and preparation for site visits. Be responsible for performing other administrative duties including annual budgets, faculty recruiting, adjunct hiring, supervision of support staff, representing the nursing program to the community, monitoring the student admission process, participating in the life of the university community, and other duties as assigned.

Required skills: Doctorate degree, with graduate preparation in nursing at either the masters or doctoral level required. A minimum of seven years of experience in clinical nursing, nursing administration, or any combination of such experience also required. Previous teaching experience in a baccalaureate degree program preferred.
