Position Summary :
Under the direction and guidance of the department Director, the manager is responsible for the direction and administration of the department(s).
E ssential Job Responsibilities:
Plan and direct activities of all personnel to achieve objectives derived from the Organization's strategic plan for quality of patient care, cost effectiveness and optimum utilization of material and human resources. - Assure performance improvement plans, risk management and compliance programs are developed and updated for each department and that time, training, and resources are provided for employees. - Responsible for the daily operations of surgery, SDS, Endoscopy, PCU Surgical pre-registration/precertification and central processing. - Acts as a liaison between Anesthesia Services and Senior Management to ensure communication of pertinent information and compliance with policies and changes within the organization. - Strives to produce results in growth, operational efficiency and use of capital assets through interactions with physicians, staff, and peers. - Ensures all processes achieve department objectives for quality, effectiveness, and timeliness. - Ensures compliance to organizational policies and procedures. - Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. - Ensures departmental operations contribute to the overall success of the organization. - Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating services that promote positive patient outcomes that result in safe, efficient, quality care/service. - The Manager ensures that services are provided in accordance with professional practice acts and standards, agency policies and procedures, and applicable, local, state and federal regulations. - Through documentation and verbal communication, essential information is shared with health care team members. - Manager promotes the provision of compassionate, high quality health services through working with staff, physicians, hospital departments and community agencies. - This job requires employees to demonstrate initial and annual competencies in order to remain in the position. - The Manager is responsible for performing other duties as assigned by the Director.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or Bachelor of Science (BS) in health-related field
Licenses: Current registered nurse licensure in Maryland or compact state.
Experience: Previous nurse manager experience preferred or equivalent leadership experience.
Physical Requirements : Prolonged standing, walking. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs and move patients. Physical and emotional stamina.
Performance Requirements : Must be able to foster a culture of customer service excellence along with the ability to think and act in a strategic and conceptual manner. Possess the ability to lead, mentor, coach and persuade others as needed to accomplish goals. Basic knowledge of monitoring and improving patient outcomes using a quality/performance improvement model. Must possess exceptional leadership and employee development skills; have the ability to use sound judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals. Is adept at resolving conflicts and identifying resolutions to problems. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Possesses the ability to organize, prioritize and manage multiple projects. Must be proficient in computer skills and possess basic financial management, staff scheduling and outcomes. Must be results oriented.
