Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs patient care functions such as vital signs, bathing, linen changes, assisting with activities of daily living, obtaining supplies, intake and output, and transporting. Patient care is provided as required by the patient population and in accordance with the vision, mission, goals, values and scope of care and services of the organization. Knowledge & Skills Required:
Ability to pay attention to detail in patient changes and documentation
Communication skills, verbal and written, needed to document, read and interpret patient information, policies, procedures, and to respond and relay information to a variety of clinical disciplines
Knowledge of basic patient care procedures
Education & Experience Required:
Enrollment in an accredited RN program with successful completion of the initial nursing fundamentals course and currently enrolled in successive nursing program
Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration Required:
Current BLS/Healthcare Provider
Physical Demands for Essential Functions of the Job:
Ability to assist with lifting, positioning and transporting patients of varying weights up to 500 lbs.
Ability to bend and stoop frequently during each workday
Ability to walk and stand more than eighty percent of work time
Ability to wear respirator and other protective clothing/equipment in exposure situations and according to unit specific protocols
