The nutrition assistant prepares formula that is nutritionally appropriate in an accurate and safe manner to all inpatient pediatric areas. Under general supevision, coordinates and performs a variety of administrative and organizational support duties for the Clinical Nutrition Department which requires a range of skills and knowledge of departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Oversees organization and preparation of all inpatient formulas using mathematical calculations. Enters routine to complex formula charges into billing system according to protocol.
Processes formula credits as necessary. Serves as a liason to the food service manager, Clinical Nutrition staff and all medical units. Answers and directs all calls into the department during assigned shift. Works independently and utilizes judgment to resolve routine to complex problems. Completes and distributes staff, qi, and Nutrition Committee meeting minutes. Edits and proofreads to ensure accuracy. Compiles monthly reports on formula preparation. Makes and confirms appointments in writing and manages schedule for the outpatient Registered Dietitians (RDs)
High School Diploma or GED. Preferred 3-5 years experience in admistrative roles with increasing responsibility and autonomy.
Math and computer skills a must.
Ability to weigh/measure formula, food accurately.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
