Under the general direction of the Director of Medical Nutrition, the Nutrition Assistant will function as part of the clinical team by assisting the Registered Dietitian and Registered Dietetic Technicians in ensuring patients and residents get correct meals and nourishments in accordance with diet prescriptions and individual selections.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalency. Good organizational and communication skills. Able to establish good rapport with others; adaptable to changing work situations; flexible to changing work environment; functions well under pressure, and able to handle stress. Good basic math and writing skills. Detail oriented. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and Hospital/Eldercare shift as needed.
Physicial Requirements : Normal visual and hearing acuity and manual dexterity; able to concentrate and pay attention to detail. Work requires standing for extended periods of time, lifting up to 15 pounds, and some repetitive tasks. Able to handle stressful conditions and withstand heat, humidity, and noise.
Work Conditions : Exposure to typical patient care environment and kitchen, including variable temperatures, occasional wet and slippery surfaces and noise. Association with others is frequent and comprises a major portion of the job.
