General Definition of Work
Performs manual work assisting with meal preparation, cleaning dining and kitchen areas, serving food, packaging food for delivery, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Cook and Preventative Nutrition Program Coordinator.

Examples of Duties:
Assists with meal preparation and time restraints.
Cleans tables, chairs and serving areas before and after meals; sets tables for meals.
Cleans and inventories food storage areas.
Cleans the kitchen and dining area; disposes garbage; operates dishwasher.
Assists with serving food to diners and packages food for home-delivered meal
Attends inservice education and conferences as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of meal services and reading and following menu instructions; knowledge of the methods of cleaning and maintaining food service areas, utensils and equipment in a sanitary and safe manner; some knowledge of the nutritional needs of older adults; skill in the serving of meals and handling of food; ability to follow oral instructions and understand simple written terms; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, associates and the general public.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 10 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 25 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and tasting or smelling, frequently requires walking, reaching with hands and arms and repetitive motions and occasionally requires speaking or hearing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, pushing or pulling and lifting; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires using of measuring devices, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently requires exposure to extreme cold (non-weather) and exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and occasionally requires wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
Serv Safe Certificate, must be obtained within one (1) year of hire.
Valid driver's license.
