Grow Your Family Strong (GYFS) is a start up that has been created to help our families lead long and healthy lives by employing a practical lifestyle for busy moms.

GYFS is the brain-child of Monique Nadeau, an aspiring runner, sauvignon blanc enthusiast, President and CEO of a national public policy organization dedicated to improving health, jobs, and education outcomes, and mom of three young children.

GYFS is building out a website to support it’s goals and objectives and is looking for a talented and enthusiastic registered dietitian or dietetic student for an intern position to help research and write articles.

The right candidate will support the CEO by assisting with, but not limited to, the following responsibilities

  • Monitor and write on nutrition, food and policy news
  • Conduct nutritional analysis of recipes and their constituent ingredients
  • Read peer reviewed journal articles, analyze studies and reviews and translate research into interesting new content
  • Draft and/or edit blog posts several times a week
  • Assist in the development of communications materials, and messaging about GYFS
  • Manage social media outreach to relevant bloggers and general audience

Candidates will demonstrate:

  • An understanding of leading industry guidance (e.g., USDA, IOM, etc.) and a knowledge of credible resources to reference for nutrition guidance
  • Familiarity with prominent nutrition trade journals, newsletters and blogs
  • A working knowledge of leading public health, nutrition policies and emerging nutrition science
  • Exceptional writing, organization, analytical and communication skills. Candidate must be able to manage tasks and meet deadlines
  • Working knowledge of nutrition software
  • Strong social media skills and a willingness to promote site content to a variety of audiences
  • Tenacity, willingness to learn and to be entrepreneurial, and relentless attention to detail. This includes the ability to track down information quickly via telephone or in person interviewing, peer reviewed journals, and web


  • Should be currently enrolled or recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program in Nutrition Science with the goal of becoming a registered dietitian
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision
  • Commitment of a minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage tasks and deliver on deadlines
  • Strong computer (including Microsoft Word and Excel) and social media skills
  • Good interpersonal skills including a commitment to collaboration and ability to take in feedback
  • Excellent research with the ability to define problems, collect data, and draw valid conclusions
  • Strong passion for GYFS mission and desire to catalyze change around you
