Directly and indirectly responsible for providing the prescribed medical and nursing treatment to patients of Wilson Memorial Hospital.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform pertinent, accurate assessments and determines total nursing needs of assigned patients. The patient population would include: The fetusThe neonate patientThe adolescent patientThe young-middle aged adultCollaborate with the physician, family, team members, and other hospital departments in developing and implementing a comprehensive plan of care for each patient.Implement a plan of care based on assessment data as well as a sound evidence-based knowledge.Participate in the patient/family education process. Evaluate and modify the plan of care based upon observable responses of the patient and attainment of patient goals.Demonstrates Service Orientation through the actions of listening to and understanding the patient and their families, while anticipating patient needs and giving high priority to customer satisfaction. Assure open and timely communication with patients, significant others, and health care team members to ensure the occurrence of effective therapeutic interventions.Demonstrate clinical competency in the areas of antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, intra-operative care for c/sections, instrumental deliveries, and neonatal nursing through the application of the Nursing Process while adhering to established standards of practice, policies, and procedures.Demonstrate professionalism by developing and maintaining clinical competence, positive communication with health team members, and knowledge of current obstetrical/neonatal trends and developments. Actively contributes to creating a work culture that values collaboration and teamwork..Collaborate with Director in establishing professional goals. Collaborates with Nurse Specialist in meeting goals.Collaborate with health care team members to address quality and nursing practice issues.Supervise and provide direction/guidance to other nursing personnel, such as licensed practical nurses, floats, unit secretaries, and nursing assistants. Act as a mentor to new Birth Center personnel.Provide care based on philosophical and ethical concepts, such as reverence for life and respect for the inherent dignity, worth, autonomy, and individuality of each human being, and on a resolution to act dynamically in relation to people's beliefs and culture.PERFORMS ADDITIONAL DUTIES AS ASSIGNED WITHIN SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Prefer Labor and Delivery experience. Must have a minimum of 2 year Med/Surg experience, if no prior Labor & Delivery experience. Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of an accredited nursing program.Must be licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio.Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, families, and health care team members.Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and documentation in patient charts.Current NRP,BLS, CPT Certification, or obtains Neonatal Resuscitation Certification within 60 days of hire.Recent attendance at Basic and Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Courses or completion of courses within 9 months of hire. Completion of ACLS within one year of hire. Patient and office equipment will generate audible alerts and other distractions. The role will require keyboard/computer/workstation duties. Patient care can provide exposure to blood borne pathogens and other clinical hazards. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to risk of radiation.EOE
