OB Technician Training Program - FMC (Spring 2013)
The Obstetric Technician, under the supervision of the Director and/or Clinical Manager is responsible for preparing supplies and equipment for interventions, using appropriate techniques. Provides technical services as assigned or directed. Assist with procedures. S/he follows accepted policy/procedures at Flagstaff Medical Center. S/he assists and/or performs patient procedures that are within the scope of their unit specific Skills Summation. S/he seeks assistance and support when necessary, assists in data collection, organizes those aspects of patient care for which s/he is responsible and maintains accountability for own practice and those functions delegated to the technician. Within a specified work period, provides care that is consistent with overall admission to post-discharge plan. S/he practices within accepted ethical and legal parameters. Pharmacists will have oversite responsibility when non-licensed staff handle non-controlled medications. Call required; if yes, must be able to respond to hospital within 30 minutes. Floating required; if yes, OB Tech's will only float within the cluster.
-High school diploma or equivalent education/experience.
-Completion of PCT training within three (3) month introductory period.
-Successful performance for six (6) month period of Unit Secretary/CNA - desirable.
-Scrub in OR - preferred.
-Instrument processing - preferred.
-BLS (American Heart Assoc.) - required upon hire.
-Current Arizona Certified Nursing Assistant, hard copy license - required within 90 days of hire.
