The Health Information Management Coder is responsible for the coding of outpatient records, data entry into the AS-400 in a timely manner and complying with federal regulations. Works directly under the supervision of the Director of Health Information.
Some college education or equivalent is highly desirable. A current Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or CCS Certification is required.
Desirable characteristics include at least two years of college, a proficiency in coding, possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Medical Staff; and a minimum of two years coding experience in a health care institution.
Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given.
Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.
RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or Education Equivalent.
