Position Information
Position serves as the primary agent for the organization and implementation of all occupational health and safety related activities for all WakeMed facilities. The customer population is defined as all WakeMed employees, house staff and volunteers. Activities included: evaluation and intervention for all healthcare workers who might harbor infectious agents. Evaluation and follow-up for employees who have been exposed to hazardous or infectious agents in the workplace; serves as case manager for occupational injuries/illnesses and the return-to-work process; ensuring that all facilities meet the requirements of the N.C. Occupational Safety and Health Act; serves as an employee advocate related to health care & treatment; provides direct nursing care to patient population; counsels employees in illness, injury management & prevetion; assists in the administration of the Family & Medical Leave Act; take call on a rotating basis; maintains error-free medical records.

Experience Requirements :
Two (2) years in an Ambulatory Care Setting (ED, Clinic) or Medical Surgery Nursing with strong assessment skills required. One (1) year as an Occupational or Employee Health Nurse preferred; experience in Worker's Compensation and/or Infection Control preferred.

Select Education Type :
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required - or - current enrollment in an advanced education program through an approved educational institution where the nurse has passed NCLEX examination and end result of the program will be an advanced nursing degree (BSN/MSN). Candidate/Employee is required to complete the advanced education program as scheduled. Bachelors' Degree in Nursing preferred. Applicable National Certification in Nursing preferred.

Licensure/Certification Requirements :
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of NC required.
Hours of Work : Rotate between 7-3:30 and 7:30-4:00
Weekend Requirements : As Needed
Call Requirements : Every 6th Week for 1 week
Minimum Salary 45,489.60Maximum Salary : 72,779.20
