Novelis Corporation, the world leader in rolled aluminum and recycling, is looking for an experienced Occupational Nurse for its Fairmont, WV manufacturing plant. The position is responsible for treating and managing workplace illnesses and injuries, promoting and coordinating health and wellness initiatives to improve the well being of Novelis employees and their families, and for assuring compliance with company and regulatory policies and procedures related to industrial health and hygiene. The plant nurse participates in related efforts such as employee training, ergonomic assessment of work sites, accident investigation and attendance management. The ideal candidate must be able to work a flexible schedule to include on-call, early mornings and evenings.

Responsibilities Include:
Act as clinical resource for employees, providing services to include assessment, management and documentation of occupational and non-occupational illness and injury.

Assist with identifying, evaluating and implementing accommodations and timely return to work options for employees with restricted duty.

Provide information and resolution to health and benefits related concerns. Coordinate with appropriate partners to ensure issues are resolved on a timely basis.

Evaluate fitness for duty during the pre- placement health screening process, complete onsite occupational and health testing, and coordinate any additional regulatory testing as required.

Manage FMLA, ADA, or other leave/accommodation requests.

Develop and oversee drug and alcohol testing protocol with third party providers.

Assist with ergonomic assessment and job analysis of all plant floor positions.

Work as active member of the EHS committee, participate in CI team events, represent plant in EHS related audits. Work with EHS Leader to carry out emergency preparedness activities, evaluate PPE, provide advice to off- shift supervisors regarding injuries or incidents.

Travel with or meet employees at ER to assess and report back re employee condition and discuss RTW options with physicians.

Maintain OSHA accident logs and required medical surveillance records such as hearing conservation, respiratory protection, blood borne pathogens, AED and exposures.

Organize and coordinate employee health and wellness screenings. Encourage employees to use online tools provided by third party wellness providers.

Prepare newsletters, emails, postings and other communications to drive interest in health and wellness activities and initiatives.

Provide or coordinate first aid and CPR training for designated employees; assist the First Responders team with training needs.

Maintain adequate first aid supplies in the office and on the plant floor for treating workplace injuries and illnesses.

Assist HR team in maintaining employee files and records, communicating information regarding company policies and benefits, and acting as a resource when HR staff is unavailable


Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with current WV Registered Nurse’s License. Certification in Occupational Health and Case Management preferred.

Minimum of 3 years

occupational nursing

with proven experience in industrial medical techniques and emergency medicine required.

Experience with WV Worker's Compensation; OSHA regulations and record keeping requirements; DOT regulations; Audiometric Testing; and Respirator Fit Testing preferred.

Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Ability to remain composed and focused in emergency situations.

Unwavering ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity and credibility.

Proficient in computer software including Excel, PeopleSoft and Outlook.
