Occupational Health Nurse

Qualifications:
Required:
Registered nurse in the state of Florida

AA/AS degree with 5 – 10+ years of experience OR BA/BS degree with 2 -5 + years of experience

Certifications in NIOSH Pulmonary Function Testing, DOT Drug Collection, and CAOHC Occupational Hearing Conservation

Certification in audiometry and spironmetry

Certification in CPR and AED and be able to train others in CPR and AED

Minimum five (5) years nursing experience with three (3) years in Occupational Health Nursing

Minimum of one (1) year in making independent nursing judgments, solving problems, and prioritizing workload

Must have knowledge base of requirements for confidential records

Must be experienced in the following MS software: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred:
MA/MS degree with 0 – 2+ years of experience; COCHN preferred

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an occupational setting; aerospace manufacturing industry preferred

Overview of Position:
Collaborates with management the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) staff to carry out the objectives of the Occupational Health Service as this supports the EHS functions and the plant as a whole. Responsible for the administrative and technical aspects of the Occupational Health (OH) Program. This includes program development and support for OH compliance, health and wellness, workers’ compensation case management, and administering and interpreting health surveillance testing. This position will provide occupational health nursing services to include nursing assessment for fit-for-duty and, drug and alcohol testing for the FAA abatement and post- accident programs.

Key Responsibilities:
Administer day to day activities of the occupational health clinic services

Deliver/coordinate training and employee team support for ergonomic and first responder programs

Oversee information systems and reporting for occupational health records, workers’ compensation, ergonomics, and medical emergencies

Administer an evaluation program for the occupational health programs that considers client satisfaction, process outcomes, and cost effectiveness.

Supports the emergency response plans and provides CPR and BLS training using nationally recognized training programs

Provides consultation and referral of employee health concerns

Develop the emergency response treatment protocols. Serves as medical first responder until Emergency Medical Services arrive.

Maintains and administers written blood-borne pathogens plans

Maintains and coordinates written AED program

Assists in implementing Human Resources, and Environmental Health and Safety policies and programs
