This position is in the Department of Psychosocial Treatment Services-Occupational Therapy. Type of programs provided includes group work and individual treatment sessions. While the majority of the work is with psychiatric patients it can include work with indviduals with neurological problems, TBI, stroke and physical injuries. Population served include: children, adults and geriatric individuals as well as a forensic patients. This position is a first shift position Monday through Friday. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Know ledge of occupational therapy principles, techniques, modalities and their proper application in the area of psychiatry and in addition general knowledge of physical disabilities. Skill in assessing patient response to treatment and in modification of programs to meet target goals. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing about patients' participation in treatment and instruction of hospital staff about OT Treatments. Management prefers the ability to work with multiple clinical personnel. In the provision of occupational therapy services, previous work experience with groups would be beneficial. ADA Physical Requirements will be discussed during the interview, but include the ability to lift 25 lbs and lots of walking as is a large facility.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Completion of an accredited occupational therapy assistant educational curriculum (COTA) and two years of experience as an occupational therapy assistant, preferably with patient population being served; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be licensed to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the State of North Carolina. Trainees will be considered. Requirement for a Trainee is licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist Assistant in the State of North Carolina. Trainee salary will be a the minimum of a Salary Grade 65 which is $32,001.
