Prior to being considered for this position, a keyboarding test of speed and accuracy is required. The tests are given at any local Job Service office. The test must have been taken within the last twelve months to be valid. Test results must be submitted with the application to be considered for this position.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and two years of office support, clerical or secretarial work experience.

Coursework in a vocational office support or closely related program may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.

If unable to find qualified candidates, will consider underfilling as an Office Assistant II , which requires high school diploma or GED plus one year of office support, clerical or secretarial work experience. Work requires: pleasant phone voice; ability to make decisions and judgments; eye for detail; excellent interpersonal communication skills; ability to work without close supervision; excellent written communication skills with good spelling and grammar abilities. Also requires basic knowledge of computers using Word and Excel programs as well as ability to use email.

Summary of Work:
The position involves providing support services to Vocational Rehabilitation counselors and clients. Duties include reception via phone or in person, transcription, copying information, filing loose information into medical records, auditing files for accuracy; design and implement mass mailings to clients; track client financial data; prepare new client files; keep office neat and tidy; liaison to landlord; mail duties. Other duties will be shared at interview.
