Provides clerical support for the department.
Maintains departmental reports and records for regulatory agencies and according to hospital policy.
Serves as a receptionist for the department.
Data entry of patient orders, verification of tests and auditing.
Greet and schedule laboratory patients in a timely, accurate manner, ensuring that each person understands when and how they will be served.
Accurately orders lab tests in the Meditech system, as well as investigates esoteric test orders to determine proper test and specimen requirements, making certain that laboratory test orders are compliant with regulatory agency requirements.
Communicate with physician's offices regarding additional information required on a test order or when a redraw is required.
Contact patients to schedule additional blood work as directed by the physician.
In addition to faxing stats and abnormal reports, answer 5 phone lines with over 100 calls per day recording and delivering messages when personnel are unavailable. Follow hospital and laboratory policies pertaining to HIPAA compliance.
High school graduate or equivalent is required.
Medical terminology is required.
Knowledgeable of personal computers, MS Office and spreadsheets is required.
