Works as part of the OSU Extension team in Wayne County. The Office Assistant provides customer service through contact with the public (greeting clientele, answering phone, and providing general information). The Office Assistant also provides office support to three Extension Educators and three Program Assistants. This includes, but is not limited to: creating newsletters and program materials (brochures,flyers,etc), preparing mailings, processing outgoing mail, and general office tasks; computer tasks include 4-H data base (Access), maintaining office mailings and evaluation data for Ag and FCS , copy work, and ordering office publications; possible web site management and Extension marketing opportunities.
20%: Provide customer service, greet customers, answer phone, general office procedures, prepare bank deposits, process outgoing mail, order and distribute/file office publications.
25%: Create newsletters and program materials; prepare mailings and data bases; perform general clerical tasks.
15%: Web site management and social media communications working with program areas.
40%: Input and maintain 4-H, Ag, and FCS mailing list database, and maintain 4-H data records (access and reports).
Six months experience (or 600 hours course work) in office practices and procedures, including customer service/public relations; 3 months experience (or 300 hours training) operating basic office machines and equipment (e.g., computer related and peripheral equipment, copy machines, typewriters, calculators).
The successful candidate will provide good customer service, pay attention to details, and follow through with assignments; have knowledge of general office practices and procedures, as well as knowledge of spelling and basic grammar; have basic experience in computer programs (MS Office: Excel, Publisher, Power Point and Word), data entry, and layout and design of brochures; have experience in website management; skill in operating and troubleshooting basic office equipment (phones, copier, mail meter); and the ability to work independently and with a team to accomplish tasks and prioritize work details.
