This is a part-time position (27.5 hrs per week-including some evening hours) located at the Algona Campus. Primarily responsible for reception/office related tasks which include mailings, sending letters and correspondence, and assisting students and the public. A sincere commitment to “customer service” is a necessity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (% of TIME)
Accept telephone calls and assist students and the public.
Use a computer to enter and retrieve information from the computer mainframe system or PC.
Duplicate material on a copy machine, scan documents, prepare mailings, send letters and correspondence, and other typical office duties.
Complete appropriate paperwork for student admission and registration.
Create databases and spreadsheets for various projects.
Assist students and staff with computer issues.
Accept, receipt, and cashier payments from students and staff.
Notify students of the status of certain classes, cancellations or postponements.
Maintain and update mailing lists.
Serve as relief person for vacation hours.
Assist in managing room scheduling.
Prepare monthly Xerox report.
Work with Campus Supervisor to coordinate events and activities hosted by Algona Campus.
Close the building at the end of the day or at the end of classes.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer for word processing and database information.
Represent the college in a positive manner to employees, students, visitors, and the general public.
Must be enthusiastic and energetic in performance of assigned duties and responsibilities.
Thorough knowledge of office procedures, telephone techniques, office equipment, as well as correct English usage, grammar, punctuation and arithmetic.
Must be dependable, flexible, and willing to learn about upgrades in software used in the office.
Sedentary to light work. Position involves sitting most of the time; exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally (10-33%). Stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, carrying occasionally (10-33%). Walking, lifting and grasping frequently (34-66%). Talking, hearing, viewing various types of close visual work and repetitive motion constantly (67-100%). May be required to travel utilizing personal vehicle. Must have valid driver’s license, good driving record and provide proof of insurance.
Employment with Iowa Lakes Community College is dependent upon successful passage of a criminal background check.

Extensive computer knowledge is required with an excellent understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access. High school diploma or equivalency required plus post-secondary education in an appropriate area or three years experience preferred.
SALARY: $9.90 per hour daytime, $10.25per hour after 5 pm.
