The Virginia Department of State Police is currently accepting applications for four Office Services Assistant positions in the Criminal Justice Information Services Division at Administrative Headquarters in Chesterfield County. These are grant funded positions with an expiration date of September 30, 2013 and are contingent on the availability of federal funds.
DUTIES: Researches, analyzes, and modifies criminal history records by researching computer generated printouts, which contain arrest information missing a final disposition. Contacts court clerks by telephone, fax, and mail. Validates criminal history information hits retrieved by comparing the source document against the Supreme Court interface to determine if the results of the search are accurate. Enters disposition data from the Court Automated Information System (CAIS) computer generated printout in order to update the computerized criminal history record with online criminal histories.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated knowledge of computer formatted functions, state codes, and regulations. Demonstrated skill in effective keyboarding and/or typing. Demonstrated ability to work independently; to follow instructions; to pay close attention to detail; and to perform research on questionable data by applying established procedures from training. High school diploma or GED or equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position required. Applicant must have or be eligible to apply for VCIN certification which requires either U.S. citizenship or having been a lawful resident of the U.S. for the past 10 consecutive years.
