Offshore Mechanical Lead Engineer

Location: This position will be based in Houston TX after 6-12 month working in Seoul South Korea. If you are not able to travel or work overseas, please visit our website for similar positions for other clients.

Department: Offshore Engineering Department
Report to: Head of Offshore Engineering Department

This position is responsible for Offshore Mechanical Engineering as follows:
--Lead the Mechanical Engineering activities in accordance with Project/Proposal requirements within the assigned budget, time schedule and quality standards
--Ensure compliance with all Project interfaces and supervise in/out information flow regarding mechanical discipline

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities:
--Lead of Mechanical discipline with full knowledge relevant to mechanical equipments, stationary equipments, pressure vessel and packages, storage tanks, structural computational modeling and analysis, etc
--Initiate and finalize equipment arrangement/deck plans for fixed and floating offshore facilities
--Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standard and revise where applicable
--Propose and control the solution on technical issue considering not only engineering but also procurement, fabrication and installation
--Provide technical oversight of facility layout, including considerations related to process, mechanical, electrical, fabrication, installation, operations and maintenance

Commercial support:
--Support the Proposal/Project Manager during technical clarification meetings with the Client
--Ensure the achievement of the assigned goal and the fulfillment of the Project quality and contractual requirements
--Take the necessary corrective actions within the Discipline to meet the assigned goal

Overall supervision of mechanical engineers:
--Ensure Discipline work progress, monitor and control man hour consumption
--Ensure proper Discipline workflow, interfaces, quality checks and approval of all Discipline Project documents, including Vendor ones

Secondary Task:
--(Networking, training, consulting, etc) Strengthen inexperienced Offshore Project capacity
--Train electrical/instrument engineers to develop capabilities for offshore business to be at world’s top class level
--Provide technical expertise and mentoring to team members
--Recruit offshore electrical/Instrument engineers to accomplish client's Vision
--Support Offshore Business Unit to solve non standard technical issues
--Update Discipline workflows and technical standards
--Interface other disciplines
--Provide technical support to Project functions including Procurement, Construction, and Vendor qualification
--Monitor Discipline Project KPIs

Education Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Science and Engineering

Experience Over 15 years of experience in Offshore at Major EPC company including more than three projects of experience as a lead mechanical engineer in the engineering/fabrication/installation phase in the offshore oil & gas industry
Skills & Capability:
--Proficient in utilizing 2D, 3D system design
--Familiarity with offshore engineering and fabrication practices & trends
--Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
--Ability to work successfully with other disciplines, management, contractors and vendors in a functional support and team role
--Effective interpersonal and communications skills, particularly the ability to communicate technical expertise and lead multi-discipline teams
--Excellent presentation and documentation skill to explain and resolve effectively on technical issue to Client
