1.Oil and Gas Rig welders repair and maintain rig structure

2.Offshore rigs maintain full time rig welders on-site to avoid "down time" on the rig if welding repairs are demanded.

3.Oilfield rig welders must be experienced and trained in specialty welding, including brazing and hardfacing.

4.Rig Welder's will be responsible for taking measurements, reading blue prints, welding on pipes and ensuring work is always done in a proper fashion.

5.Rig Welders join or sever metals in beams, girders, vessels, piping and other metal components, make metal parts used in construction and manufacturing plants, and weld parts, tools, machines and equipment.

6.Must be skilled in working with all types of pipe including copper, carbon steel, stainless steel, kynar, abs, and PVC and have general rigging knowledge.

7.Must be able to perform minor mechanical and electrical work in order to complete jobs .

8.Must have demonstrated ability to work with and fabricate all forms of piping from ΒΌ inch tubing to 6 inch schedule 80 pipe and weld various metals in low and high pipe pressure applications.

9.Designs, fabricates and joins various types of metal objects and structures using electric arc, MIG welding techniques.

10.Lie out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.

11.Examines work pieces for defects and measures work pieces with straightedges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.

12.Clamps, holds, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind or bolts component parts to obtain required configurations and positions for welding.

13.Weld in flat, vertical planes and overhead positions for long period of time.

14.Monitors the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts of warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of materials.

15.Uses disc grinder to smooth out, weld, or grind parts prior to welding.

16.Operate drill presses, power saws, metal lathes and a variety of welding equipment and hand tools.

17.Be able to analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.

18.Operates safety equipment and uses safe work habits while performing his job function.
