The Older Youth Coordinator will be responsible for reviewing, evaluating and aligning the various program and services for older youth involved with the Department of Human Services and ensuring that the services are coordinated. The Older Youth Coordinator will assist in the design and development of additional programming designed to prepare youth for independence as they exit the foster care system.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct in depth analysis of current array of programs designed for older youth in child welfare system
Identify gaps in service and areas of duplication in service array.
Work with DHS and staff and provider community to align current array of programs with focus on Improving Outcomes for Children Initiative
Provide consultation and advice to Children and Youth Division on best practice in older youth program development and ensure that these practices are implemented with DHS and its providers
Ability to understand, implement and promote the philosophy and objectives underlying the provision of social services for children and youth. Excellent knowledge and understanding of issues effecting older youth involved in the child welfare system. Knowledge of social service administration especially as they apply to children and youth programs including planning and evaluation. Ability to think strategically and creatively and to solve problems. Demonstration of strong leadership skills and experience working as part of a team and developing consensus. Excellent interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
