As part of WP Engine's rapid growth, we're seeking an ONBOARDING ENGINEER to join our team. This Engineer will have the opportunity to work together with a diverse team of Linux, PHP, and WordPress experts to ensure the success of customers that have recently joined the WP Engine. About This Position
As the Onboarding Engineer you'll be working with several departments throughout the company and will be the primary driver of customer's technical success during their launch with WP Engine. You'll be involved early on in the sales process, working with the potential customer to understand their technical needs and following them through sign-up and a successful launch.
This is very much a hands-on role as you'll be expected to do the required technical work prior to launch, including work around custom built deployment scripts and PHP code.
As the most knowledgeable individual of the prospect's technical needs, you'll be the one making sure all the correct departments have the information they need for a successful launch.
We often see custom code that is outside the typical scope of WordPress, as such you'll need to be able to assess what will work with our platform and what will need to be changed or optimized.
You'll work closely with the Support department and the Account Managers to ensure a warm hand-off once the customer launches on our platform.
Many customers have specific developers or agencies they work with on a regular basis and you'll be communicating and exchanging technical details with them.
You'll be involved with the Sales team early in the sales cycle, helping to gather technical details of major prospects.
Specific QUALIFICATIONS for this position include:
You're a hands-on, technical person that can do the work but can also work directly with customers on a daily basis.
You're well-versed in explaining technical concepts to non-technical people.
You understand the value of project management and how communication will ensure success of a project.
Understanding of custom built deployment scripts and PHP code (or other OOP languages)
You understand the LAMP stack and can troubleshoot or tune it as needed.
Can get around in Git and Github
Demonstrable experience in at least one OS, we use Ubuntu, but if you're proficient in one (Redhat Enterprise, CentOS, FedoraCore, etc.) or multiple it's just a matter of finding the equivalent command
Knowledge or UNIX/Linux shell scripting
WordPress experience is a major plus
