Basic Function

Lead project management and support and training for Brookings online activities. Maintain a centralized knowledge management system for the Institution-wide web team. Train staff in use of online tools and Sitecore use. Maintain library of best practices for Brookings online tools and outreach activities. Provide Tier I support for online activities.

Education/Experience Requirements

BA in Communications or related field and minimum of 3 years work experience required; experience in website project management or content management and strategy preferred; experience in a public policy setting preferred.

Knowledge Requirements

Experience in project management and using a trouble ticketing or issue tracking system. Strong knowledge of website management, trends, practices, and strategies. Should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, and adept at learning new applications. Basic HTML knowledge required. Excellent organizational, communication, proofreading, and writing skills. Ability to prioritize; ability to work well under pressure with discretion and mature judgment; self starter. Must be able to learn other new technology applications for communications design.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

50% Knowledge Management

Create and manage online knowledge base for Brookings online staff and others as needed, including web team documents, workflow processes, requirements, and internal FAQs.

Maintain technical standards for site assets, including images and other documents.

25% Training

Train Brookings staff in use of online outreach tools, including Sitecore CMS and StrongMail (newsletters).

Serve as primary liaison to members of the Institution-wide Web Site Coordinators team, including scheduling regular meetings, setting meeting agendas, and providing training and guidance on website management tools and best practices.

Create agendas for web team meetings; take meeting notes for Communications web team with emphasis on action items and milestones.

15% Support

Provide Tier 1 website support by serving as central coordinating point for all incoming reports of website problems, enhancement requests, downtime, or other technical website problems as needed.

Work with Communications web team to prioritize needed enhancements and troubleshoot problems.

Troubleshoot basic Web Site Coordinator issues in Sitecore.

Review and handle inbound email messages for Accounts, Brookings Alert, WebSupport, Feedback, and others as needed.

Act as Office of Communications liaison to Information Technology Services.

Provide backup content management support to program Web Site Coordinators as needed.

10% Vendor/Systems Management Support

Assist Director of Online Communications in vendor relationship management (e.g., Velir, Threespot, Datapipe, StrongMail, Brightcove, Sitecore).

Assist Director of Online Communications in managing contracts and other administrative duties as required.

Perform other Office of Communications duties as required.
