QUALIFICATIONSWorking toward a degree/recently graduated from a four-year college or university in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field. Experience updating web content using Wordpress or other content management systems. Talented professional/creative writer. Familiarity executing mass emails. Experience with website HTML. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must have the ability to write clearly and effectively for a variety of media website, print, press releases, etc. Must have good communication skills, creativity and the ability to work cross-functionally and provide superior customer service to both internal and external clients. Must consider him or herself a quick learner.II. POSITION SUMMARYThis position will be responsible for supporting the Interactive Communications Coordinator with web maintenance, social media, website analytics, video production/editing and email marketing. The Online and Digital Communications Intern will be trained on how to create and edit online content specific to the Detroit Regional Chamber website and answer questions from other staff members regarding the creation and maintenance of individual pages on www.detroitchamber.com. The intern will also assist with the creation of online marketing messages as assigned by the Integrated Marketing Specialists. Social media is a lesser responsibility and will be assigned on a sporadic basis by the Interactive Communications Coordinator. The intern will be responsible for adhering to the Creative Advisory Team's processes to keep marketing projects and work flowing. During times when there is a high volume of work across the marketing team, the intern will support all marketing team members and assist with various projects and tasks.III. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain and update Chamber website, social media channels and other locations online where the Chamber has a distinguished presenceAssist Interactive Communications Coordinator as neededCreate and execute mass emails as directed by Integrated Marketing SpecialistsTrain and support other Chamber staff members with any website issues/projectsOther projects as assigned, including administrative duties.The Detroit Regional Chamber is an equal opportunity employer.
