The Packaging Designer supports the Design Director in
maintaining the standard of creative excellence for all of our
client accounts.Special emphasis on teamwork is required to
reinforce our competitive advantage.

2. Provide Leadership:
Direct, mentor, and motivate intermediate and junior design
staff to ensure they are prepared to effectively develop creative
solutions, that effectively support our business needs
Assist in leading and inspiring staff to create and optimum,
positive work environment which adheres to our guiding
Look for opportunities to support our company's competitive

3. Develop Creative:
On predetermined projects assist in the development of the
presentation to ensure the creative output meets or exceeds our
standards of excellence
Develop creative solutions on specific projects, and provide
design support of pre-established directions
Ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
Help structure and direct the approach of individual
Provide guidance and assessment of work produced by outside
suppliers such as attending photoshoots

4. Provide Strategic Consultation:
Assist in developing potential strategic scenarios for concept
Assess existing and potential strategies and executions, assist
in developing proposals and briefing documents for internal and
external purposes
Do field research, store audits, attend focus group research,
briefing sessions, presentations

5. Develop and Manage Workflow Systems:
Assist in developing, managing and promoting systems and
protocols to optimize efficiencies of the studio (and company in
general) to increase profitability
Exercise time management skills to ensure smooth flow of

6. Training and Development:
Seek support and learning from others to meet or exceed
developmental expectations
Mentor and train intermediate and junior design staff. Help
establish goals and development strategies for studio staff. Offer
training support in a positive, respectful manner.
Help assess skill strengths and shortcomings of yourself to
determine development needs
Offer training and support in a positive respectful manner

Organizational Relationships:
Labor: This position reports directly to the Design Director

Co-Workers: There will be direct relationship with:
  • Anthem employees and Schawk employees,
  • Photographers, Illustrators
  • Other prepress and print vendors
  • Clients
  • Ad Agencies
Desired Skills & Experience

Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Graphic Design,
Package Design, Graphic Arts, Advertising, or related field
required. Degree or minor in Marketing a plus
Experience: 3-5 years design agency or creative services
department with experience working in multiple disciplines and
multiple projects
Experience in consumer packaged goods, print collateral, and
corporate/brand identity design required
Web/interactive or video design experience a plus
Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Quark Xpress skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote, and Database
Management required
Knowledge of Blue Asset Management Systems, Oracle Systems,
and/or SAP a plus
Strong organizational and presentation skills required
Ability to work in a team environment
Business acumen a plus
Time management skills required
Ability to Sketch
