- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
Operates boilers and controls generation of a continuous supply of steam for heating and air conditioning for supplying power to machinery and auxiliary equipment such as the Laundry, Dietary and Sterilizers. Operates valves and controls to change building from heating and cooling. Tours boiler room and associated equipment rooms to observe operating equipment, meters, gauges to ensure correct operation. Makes repairs and adjustments to equipment when indicated by observation or alarm. Notifies supervisor and/or appropriate technician when major repairs or assistance is required. Records in appropriate logbooks all specified readings of meters, gauges, etc. Using specific chemicals and reagents, test boiler and cooling tower water to maintain required residuals. Files a summary report of all activities in the daily power plant.
Qualifications: Stationary engineer's license preferred. Valid Illinois drivers license and proof of good driving record. CFC Certification preferred. High school diploma or its equivalent. Current experience in boiler plant operations and/or heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
