Beginning in May 2012 we will be asking a select group of
our logistics partners to respond to our requirement to price our out-sourced
service parts logistics operations (RFQ). In summary, at a high level, this will
include the costs for physical storage and control of spare parts globally,
along with the costs for handling/delivery to our customers and overall
management oversight. Therefore, the task for the intern on this project
is as follows: RFQ of spare parts logistics operations:
-
assist the Project Manager
in organizing and tracking the communications between HDS and the RFQ
respondents
-
participate in evaluating
and matching RFQ respondents answers to HDS business requirements and
specifications
-
help coordinate meetings
with and visits to the selected RFQ candidates
Additional project responsibilities will be assisting with
the on boarding of a new spares planning tool. Servigistics/MCA is the
tool that we plan to upgrade and integrate the BlueArc Spare Parts into the HDS
processes. (This project is not funded yet, but working the issues).

data extraction, setup, and validation (does not require IT skills)
-
coordinate and participate
in planning tool user testing

processes and develop user training materials
-

Candidates with flexible work hours are ideal as we will
occasionally need to start early to work with European contacts and other times
go a little late to work with Australia / Asia contacts. This job will
likely extend through Oct/Nov as the goal would be to bring this system live at
this time.
